"Hello, I'm here. Where are you?"
"Shit! I'm on my way!"
I rushed for my handbag and ran to the car grabbing my keys and phones on the way. Jumped into the car and rushed to IOI City Mall. My phone rang again. "Girlfriend" appeared on the screen.
"Hello, I'm already at the ground floor. Near Polo. We'll meet there okay?"
And that was when I remembered that I left her gift on my bed. Damn it! That was sooo clumsy of me. I knew I was gonna forget something and I forgot the most important thing of the day! I am sooo gonna ruin the date for her.
"I forgot your gift! I'm so sorry. I'm rushing to you right now. So sorry." I couldn't stop apologising. I felt sooo bad (honestly).
"No worries. Dont rush. Chill. Take your time." I am truly lucky to have such an understanding friend.
15 minutes later, I finally parked my car and rushed up the escalator to the ground floor. My eyes wandered around looking for Polo. I called her up and halfway into the conversation, I found Polo. When I finally saw her with my eyes, I rushed towards her screaming. When my arms were finally around her, I hugged her so tight. I didn't want to let go. God, I miss her soo very much. All those phone calls, texts and skypes when I was in NZ while she's in Malaysia was never enough. I missed being by her side, telling her my stories face to face, crying on her shoulder and just hanging out.
We made our way to Tony Roma's and ordered (very) heavy lunch. RIP to our 2016 diet plan. Our conversation quickly begun as we exchanged stories of family, friends, college and all the dramas that's happening in our lives. Let's not forget the thousand pictures and polaroids. I finally had a chance to date her and I'm gonna make the best of it. It's not always that I get the chance to see her and just hang out. I want to take as much picture and polaroids as possible so that I can bring all this memories to NZ with me and (hopefully) helps me tolerate her absence there. We 'tortured' the waiter when we asked him to take two polaroids of us. He took such a long time, worrying that he might ruin the picture and I keep on gesturing to him how I want the picture to look like. Bingo! He was a great waiter indeed. Both of the photos came out perfect! 30 minutes later, we were finally having our lunch. An idea popped when I was washing my hand. I decided to suprise Khairiyah for her belated birthday. I hope it was not too late. It has been six days already. She would be really happy and that's all I want really. I asked one of the waiter if they provided complementary desserts for birthday purpose and he nodded his head. I was superhappy, shaking nervously as I got back to my seat. I hold my phone, ready to take video of the surprise that's about to happen. Thank God, Khairiyah was not suspicious about it. 5 minutes later, birthday song was playing on air. She was happily dancing, thinking it's for some other customer as we saw a cake being brought into the restaurant earlier. A group of Tony Roma's staff approached our table with a small cake for her. Her face changed. She was super surprised! She giggled, hiding her red face.
"Why are you sooo sweet? You should be my boyfriend!" I laughed. She was indeed my school sweetheart and she will always be.
Four hours later, after a walk around the mall, a short shopping session at Cotton On and a dessert at Magnums Cafe, we were back at my house. I finally gave her her birthday gift and more pictures were taken. I hugged her for the last time and we said our goodbyes. I didn't want it but the day was
ending :(
Indeed it was great day. The best day of the year so far! I'm glad that she's happy. I'm happy if she is. That's all that matters.
Thank you for the amazing date girlfriend. And thank you so much for the super yummy popiah nestum! :D Please let's go out again! I cant wait!
Already missing you :(
