I first came to Wellington in July 2015 and been staying there since, but have never explored it ever! I've been around the city and have covered most of the famous must go places but have never explore the outskirt of the city. Finally, after almost two years, the time has finally come! And that too, thanks to Daniela & Roy who came all the way from Auckland to visit.

With a total of 13 people in two cars, we spent the weekend exploring Wellington. It's not a surprise that there isn't much to visit around Wellington but nonetheless we still had fun. Basically, we only went to Red Rocks (where we walked for 11km!), Staglands, Wellington Wind Turbine and Aotea Lagoon, and Moa Bay. Of course there were other places to visit in plan, but the weather and time just didn't allow it. Maybe next time.

Red Rocks

Red Rocks is about 1 hour drive from Wellington City and if you walk along the beach til the end of the bay for about 1 hour (or 5.5km) one way, you will find a fur seal colony. However, luck was not on our side. We saw only three seals and one of them was dead :( But the views was amazing nonetheless and it was a good walk.

Staglands

This is similar to Agrodome in Rotorua but it's more friendly in a way, I guess. Cause you explore the place yourself. You have the food that you feed to the animals yourself and there's no one to monitor and control what you do and you basically run free with the animals. I went home with a bruise on my right leg thanks to a very excited goat.

Wellington Wind Turbine

There wasn't much to see here but the view of Wellington City from up here was just amazing. Plus, you get to really really taste Windy Welly :)

Aotea Lagoon

This place is probably my favourite part of the trip cause it's where we unleashed the kids in us :D

It was a perfect weekend with the perfect friends.
